Lots More Con Exposure

megaman and zeroWow!  What a crazy couple of months.  I have been all over the place with my bead art.  After Naka-Con, it was off to Planet Comicon where I sold my wares alongside many a wonderful comic book illustrator.  I met a lot of great Star Wars folks, specifically the Mandolorian Mercs, and got to witness some fantastic costumes.  From the parade put on through the vending room by the 501st, to the full sized and very professional looking Iron Man and Iron Monger costumes, and of course, an amazing Alien and Predator duo, people had their costuming together.  This always makes me happy.

Then in April it was off to NoBrandCon!  My favorite convention!   NoBrand con was full of amazing and win.  It's the convention I started out with and is my original home town convention.  Now a grueling 9 hour drive away, it is still worth every bit of the drive.  This is a small convention, but it's a convention full of heart.  A great staff, vendors and artists who repeatedly come back, and a close knit group of con goers make this convention more like a family reunion every year than an anime convention.

My final jaunt was just this past weekend.  A trip to ACEN.  This was by far the largest anime convention I have ever been to.  It was a bit bewildering!  The artist alley was so large, it probably could have trounced the entire vending room of any other convention I have been to all on it's own!  Luckily, the weather was fantastic this weekend, as I had to do a LOT of walking.  My hotel was roughly five blocks away and when you're carrying a ton of art supplies, it can get a tad bit grueling.  ^_^   There were two other bead artists at this conventio who were selling, so for the first time I had competition.  It made sales a bit tougher, but I still seemed to get a good response from the general public.  My sprites tend to be a lot larger than most other bead spriters, so I have the element of awe on my side.  ;)  This biggest crowd stopper here were my TouHou sprites.  I sold them off by the end of the con, and look forward to making more.  They are a lot of fun.  I love their vibrant colors.  My other top praised works were the Disgaea sprites, which I sold out of by the end of the first day at ACEN.  Clearly I need to make more of these.  They are well desired at every convention as of yet.

I'm not quite sure yet which convention I will be hitting up next.  It will most likely be one in July.  I have a lot of work to do to completely restock my inventory.  So when you all see me again, expect to see some amazing new selections!  And remember, I am always happy to do a custom order for those who desire a specific piece.  :)

Pixel Portrayal hits up Naka-Kon!

Well, Naka-Kon is over, and what an AMAZING response!  Everyone there was so nice, and had so many great comments!  I'm so glad that people received Pixel Portrayal with such open arms.  This was my first booth at an anime convention and I could barely sit down the whole weekend!

A very fun weekend!  I also ran a raffle at my booth.  I raffled off a copy of Devil May Cry4 as well as a beautiful large bead sprite.  Here is the happy winner with his prize.

One of my favorite pictures from the weekend was when the Final Fantasy 1 cosplayers came to my booth on Sunday and each purchased a magnet of their likeness.  It made for an epic photo oportunity!

Pixel Portrayal gets it's first exposure!

February 22nd was a huge milestone for me.  It was, in fact the first time I was able to show my artwork to a large gathering of people.  Pixel Portrayal had it's first gig!  This is all thanks to my most awesome friend Terri, of Flashes Photography.  She was my wedding photographer last August.  And unbeknown to me, Terri is a caring and generous woman who has no problem helping out a little start up business like mine.  For this I owe her a great thanks.  She is, in a word, awesome.  That being said, Terri gave me a bit of space at her large upscale booth the other weekend at a huge bridal convention.

Note that my artwork is in the far right corner.  Terri actually took that picture of Doug and I, which makes my art look all the more awesome when placed next to her work, IMO.  It was an awesome experience.  I met so many people!  I can't wait to do more big events like this one.  I want to thank everyone who came up and said hi.  Thank you to those who took an interest in what I do.  Your support and enthusiasm makes my job a lot more special.

 Much love!!
